Accommodation is available, but highly competitive. The premium apartments (48 units and newer ones) offer hotel-like comfort, including water heaters, ACs, and fridges, with one person per room. These are difficult to secure due to a long waiting list, and the cost is ₦10,000 per month. Other healthcare workers, such as nurses, dentists, lab scientists, and radiographers, also have access to accommodations, making availability even tighter.
Salary is ₦267,000 per month, the same as MDCN.
Work conditions involve an extremely high patient load and a busy schedule. The hospital is well-equipped with modern innovations, but some superiors can be difficult. Building a good relationship with nurses is highly beneficial.
Zaria is not big on social life, and options for leisure activities are limited. For more entertainment, one would need to visit Kaduna City. Basic foodstuffs such as fruits, tomatoes, and salad ingredients are affordable. The hospital environment is well-maintained, with a clean skyline and lawns suitable for pictures.
Call food is consistent. However, doctors from the south may find the local food unfamiliar. Cooking personally or buying from vendors is a better option.
