National Hospital Abuja is a public hospital in Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
Address: PMB 425, Ali Muhammad Zarah Street, Central Business District, Abuja 900103, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria.
Originally called the National Hospital for Women and Children (NHWC), NHA was initially designed to cater to women and children. However, in 2000, the name was changed to National Hospital Abuja, expanding its mandate to serve everyone.
As the referral center for almost all hospitals in Abuja, NHA experiences a high patient load, which can be overwhelming but also provides great exposure for house officers.
π‘ Accommodation at NHA is quite decent. House officers have their own quarters, with: Due to the limited number of rooms is now 2 persons per room. There are 4 rooms in each flat which share a kitchen.
You have to pay for light and no generators allowed in the doctors quarters.
ACs are not working in most rooms so come prepared with furnishing your room in mind.
Thereβs a doctors quarterβs building under construction to help ameliorate the housing shortage but itβs not yet ready as at time of reporting.
π» Downside:
π΅ β¦267,000 monthly (same as MDCN).
π Abuja is a beautiful city, especially at night. While the cost of living is high, there are plenty of fun places and restaurants to explore, depending on your vibe.
π Every department has its own system, some more organized than others.
π Some doctors and nurses are helpful, making the workload lighter, while some can be toxic.
π₯ Meal tickets are available for house officers to get food in the hospital.
π There are other food vendors within the hospital offering good meals.
π Food delivery services are available for those too busy to cook or go out.
